You sharpen the pencil pieces and wiggle them into the rust holes. Filling just a splash of fuel you see that the plugs are seeping. If only you could get them tighter?
The lantern must be fixed to see in the tunnel. You must find a way to plug the 4 holes. You have the means to fix it with what has been found. How are you going to fix it?
Using your foot on the crowbar you lift the cover. Peering down inside you see what looks like water at the bottom of the tunnel. What now?
You walk back to the desk and grab the crowbar. Then make your way to the manhole cover next to the brite green door(not to be confused with "THE" green door).
You slowly push your ear to the door trying to avoid the nails. Nothing, nothing but silence. You feel hopeless but you're not a quitter. There has to be a way out of here.....what have you missed?
At the end of the hall you see a solid wood door. It appears to be nailed shut from the other side. There must be a hundred heavy nails holding it shut. Who were they trying to keep in here? What now?
After you restore the lights you turn and look down the hall. Before you explore it you try the janitor key in the green door but it doesn't work. Where would you like to go now or what do you want to do?
You repair the wires and turn the switch on. Excellent! You now have light in the hall behind you. What is your next move?
Yes, but you had to go replace the bulb because the torch was going out. Lets go back to the tool box.
Closing the water valve you hear the sound of water rushing away from you. It seems to be coming from underground? You then go to the green door and try to pick it with the paper clip but the lock is too strong. Nobody shows up to save you. Now what? Take a nap on the desk, scream or go back to the tool box?
Our heros name is Ray. Just turning 16 he feels short-changed in life. If things were only different he could live his dream of becoming a criminal investigator. But life did short-change him. His father left the house when he was 6 and never seen again. His mother struggled working two jobs but that wasn't enough to keep the payments up, let alone save up for college. When they moved to the city he hated it. Seemed like everyday he lost another friend to the lure of dealing or stealing. One of his favorite things to do was to sneek out at night during the summer. Roaming the streets sometimes lurking in the shadows observing the dealers and prostitutes. He'd even poke around some of the abandoned buildings pretending to be an investigator solving a crime. The one place he knew not to go was the old mental hospital. Sometimes he'd walk along the massive fence walls gazing up at the dark gray mass. He would think about the disappearance of the doctor and his assistant, while keeping an eye out for Ed. Now back to our show! You try to shut the valve but don't have enough strenght. What now?
All the items are visible in the first room at this point with the exception of the bottom of the toolbox. There are three items visible that nobody has asked about and two are very important. I don't want to make this game too easy so sometimes things don't stand out that you need but they are there. I will list the items that have been found. Crowbar, screwdriver, lantern, kerosene, tool box, cardboard box(now broken), wood stick, rags, 1 dryed pen, 1 whole pencil, several broken pieces of pencil, finger pencil sharpener, paper clip, two keys, 17 cents in change, two toothpicks(they were in the desk), three red/one yellow wire nut and a package of salt, pepper, and ketchup. You won't be able to advance until you restore light to the hall leading out of the room your in. Everything is there you need. Just ask and I'll do. GO!
While whistling Helter Skelter, you remove the old bulb from it's socket just as the torch goes black. You search in the darkness for the socket.....ZAP!!!!.....$#)? !!! You forgot to pull the chain first. Remember rule #1; Safety First. On your second try you were successful and now have light in the first room. What do you want to do now?
You grab the bulb and wire nuts then start to lift the tray just as the torch light begins to flicker out. There is no time to look in the bottom of the tool box now. The final seconds of light are ticking away....TICK, TICK, TICK. You now have 3 choices. Lay down and die, whistle a happy tune or see if you can replace the bulb at the bottom of the stairs before the torch goes black? Well?.....What are you waiting for?
Your torch is almost out. You have 30 seconds to act or you will not succeed. What is your next move?
